Bronte College of Canada

Grades 9 & 10

At Bronte College of Canada, Grades 9 & 10 make up the last two years of the intermediate curriculum in the Ontario Ministry of Education’s requirements for the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD).

These years with their largely compulsory subjects provide the skill and content base for the specialization years in the senior division. At Bronte College, we believe that these years are more than just academic precursors but should also offer a set of life experiences for our students. We have created a complete program that integrates the requirements of the OSSD with the person, incorporating a set of social, cultural, recreational, emotional and intellectual skills that will serve the student all of his or her life.

The Academic Program

At the outset the College continues to be organized around a complete trimester system whereby a student can accumulate up to 12 complete high school credits from the beginning of September to the end of June without going to Summer school.

By the end of Grade 10 year, students will have completed 14 of the 18 compulsory courses required by the Ministry of Education for graduation purposes. These courses will be taught at a standard that will enable students to complete OSSD requirements as well as begin their preparation for Advanced Placement exams in Grades 11 & 12.
