Scholarships and Awards

Bronte College believes in awarding and recognizing hard working, dedicated exceptional students. The following is a list of the awards.

BRONTE COLLEGE ENTRANCE SCHOLARSHIPS

These scholarships are awarded to new students with exceptional academic performance.

The recipients of the entrance scholarships were:

  • Ms. Carolyn Teo from Malaysia
  • Ms. Stephanie Tung from Malaysia

GOVERNOR GENERAL OF CANADA ACADEMIC MEDAL

The Governor General of Canada Academic Medal is awarded once a year for academic excellence to the student who has achieved the highest average among the graduates of that year. At Bronte College, this award is presented to a graduating student during the June graduation ceremony. The award consists of a bronze medal and a certificate signed by the Governor General of Canada.

The Bronte College recipients of the Governor General's Academic Medal since 2001 were:

    (June 2007 – average 96.3%)
  • Mr. Waqar Zahid – Canada
    (June 2006 – average 97.8%)
  • Ms. Liu Fei Liu – China
    (June 2005 – average 94.5%)
  • Ms. Hui Xian Soo – Singapore
    (June 2004 – average 97.6%)
  • Mr. Xing Guang Wang – Canada
    (June 2003 – average 94.3%)
  • Ms. Stephanie Dai – China
    (June 2002 – average 96%)
  • Mr. Moe Thwin – Singapore
    (June 2001 – average 94%)

BRONTE COLLEGE AWARD

This award is presented at the graduation ceremony three times per year (April, June and December) to the graduating student with the highest academic average for the best six Grade 12 courses completed.

The recipients of this award were:

  • Mr. Jonathan Wen Yu Lam from Singapore (Average – 96.3%)
  • Ms. Hui Hui Ma from China (Average – 90.3%)
  • Mr. Yuan Zhang from Singapore (Average – 94.3%)
  • Mr. Brian Kam Chuen Lo from Hong Kong (Average – 96.2%)
  • Ms. Natasya Yolanda from Indonesia (Average – 93.2%)

PRINCIPAL’S AWARD

This Award is presented to the graduating student with the second highest academic average for the best six Grade 12 courses completed.

The recipients of this award were:

  • Mr. Ben Ming Bin Feng from China (Average – 93.5%)
  • Ms. Yen Leung from Canada (Average – 93.5%)
  • Mr. Zongdian Liu from China (Average – 88.2%)
  • Mr. Masrur Shareef from Canada (Average – 92.8%)
  • Ms. Yunny Desiana from Indonesia (Average – 95.8%)
  • Mr. Guo Rui from China (Average – 92.8%)

ONTARIO SCHOLARS

The Ontario Scholar’s award is offered to graduating students who have obtained an average of at least 80% in six Grade 12 courses. Graduates receive an Ontario Scholar Certificate from the Ontario Ministry of Education.

This July 2006, over half of our graduates (45) received the Ontario Scholar’s award.
