University of Guelph at Bronte College, Mississauga

First Year University Courses

The University of Guelph, in cooperation with Bronte College of Canada, is now offering first year university degree equivalent courses at Bronte College in Mississauga.

High school graduates (students who have completed high school and have graduated in their home country) who register with Bronte College and pass the Math and English Proficiency Tests are eligible to enroll in this program. Courses are taught by qualified University of Guelph instructors and commence in January of each year. Bronte College high school graduates can have the advantage of taking degree equivalent courses in the University of Guelph’s Open Learning program while waiting to be considered for September University admission.

Students from countries where English is not their first language are required to submit a test score from one of the following tests: TOEFL, MELAB, IELTS. Applicants without a score or who have a low score in English proficiency are required to study pre-university English courses aiming at improving their level of English proficiency to a standard that meets the English Proficiency Requirements of universities. The English courses will be in addition to studying in this program.

After the first year at Bronte College of Canada, students applying for transfer to the B.A. program at the University of Guelph will be guaranteed admission provided they have a minimum cumulative average of 70% in at least four courses and proof of English Proficiency (www.open.uoguelph.ca). Students can also apply to be admitted into other degree programs at the University of Guelph and transfer their credits towards their degree. Students may also decide to apply to other universities within Canada and the United States and credits obtained in the Open Learning program can be considered for transfer.
